Welcome
We began working with adults with developmental disabilities over 30 years ago in the UK.- initially unknown to one another and later as a team, managing a residential facility in England.
Our training has instilled confidence - it seems to work with our students and we invite you to book a visit and see for yourselves
About Us..
The Jigsaw Centre is a place to grow socially as well as an awesome place to meet new friends and try new things.
We pride ourselves on having confident and trained staff with 30 years experience working among Adults with Developmental Disabilities.
The Jigsaw Centre is located at the Burlington Baptist Church on New Street. Our clients enjoy the accessible amenities in the downtown core and surrounding areas. We’re a short walk from the Burlington YMCA, Public Library and the gorgeous Spencer Smith Park.
We have full access to public transportation and a bus stops directly outside the front of the Centre. A host of well planned activities ensure our Jigsaw clients feel convinced they have chosen the appropriate day care facility to suit their needs and wishes.
Over the past couple of years, we have been working closely with the Halton District School Board to provide a comprehensive transition program for school leavers and the experience has been fulfilling, fruitful and educational from both sides. Dignity, kindness, respect and compassion make Jigsaw a unique program with individually tailored approaches.
We are new, innovative, creative (and perhaps a little bit eccentric..) and always looking for new friends to join us!
We operate Monday through Friday from 8:30 until 3:30. Book a visit or give us a call.
Covid Update
Yes, the Jigsaw Centre is open!
Obviously, things can change and we hope the above statement remains accurate. We reopened last August (2020) and haven’t looked back.
We are a fairly small group and it has worked in our favour during the Covid-19 pandemic, enabling us to become accustomed to some big changes. We’re continuing to meet and exceed federal and provincial government requirements to keep our students safe. Our students have been absolutely outstanding in following and maintaining protocol.
A huge thank you to the families of our students - without support through these unfamiliar procedures, we would have found it virtually impossible to reopen.
Huge thanks to our friends at the Burlington Baptist Church also. They have been supportive since day one, but particularly in these past difficult months. As always, we will continue to provide a fulfilling and creative service while (now more than ever) keeping the emphasis on life and social skills but more specifically, on fun!
Our Mission
Our mission is to recognize that the term fundamental is subjective. Our innovative practices, support networks and the willingness to lead as well as to learn from our students ensures that “fun” remains in fundamental.
We offer programming to Adults with Developmental Disabilities over the age of 18.
Between us, we have had diverse and lengthy careers in the social care sector with various qualifications, experience and professionalism gained along the way.
As we grow, our staff team will be trained, qualified and encouraged to support our students independence through change, choice and respect.
